Guest Access Express Set up

In these next few steps I will show you how to set up a guest access SSID for your Aerohive AP.

  • Log into your HiveManager

  • Go to Configuration
  • Open Navigation panel

  • Select SSID's

  • Click on New

Now we can begin to configure a SSID for our guests. Fill in the following:

  1. Profile Name
  2. SSID
  3. Select the frequency (2,4GHz/5GHz)
  4. Choose your security level (WPA/WPA2)
  5. Create a "pre shared key" / password
  6. Enable Captive Web Portal
  7. * Create a Web Portal if you don't want to use the standard Aerohive portal

* how to create a new custom Web Portal

  • Click on the symbol
  • Give the Web Portal config a Name
  • Select: Use Policy Acceptance (multiple features available)
  • **You can customize the Wep Portal login page appearance with your own background and logo, select Customize Login Page (Verry cool!)
  • **You can also set a Success Page and customize this when a guest has a succesfull login (after providing the right password)
  • Click on Save

** Customize Web Portal appearance

  • Click on Save

Now you have set up an guest SSID with a custom Web Portal. Don't forget to upload the new configuration to your AP's!

Mission-Critical Wired and Wireless Solutions for the Enterprise

Today’s enterprise is changing. Between a proliferation of small/branch offices and the growing popularity of teleworking, users have come to expect secure remote access to corporate resources as well as high speed wireless networks. This can result in enormous pressure on corporate IT staff, who simply don’t have the bandwidth to address all of the requirements of rolling VPNS, managed switches, and WLANs to non-technical staff.

Within the corporate site, many enterprises are also expanding their WLANs to improve productivity, reduce switch port plus cabling costs, and bring branch offices online inexpensively. They are also increasing Wi-Fi capacity to address the explosion of Wi-Fi clients including mobile internet devices (MIDs) and smart phones. As a result, near-100% uptime is critical, and multimedia traffic requires enhanced quality of service (QoS) features for optimal user experiences. The distributed, scalable Aerohive architecture has been optimized with the features needed to meet all of these requirements.

Features & Benefits

Wireless LANs and secure remote access have become mission-critical within the enterprise – with any downtime affecting revenue. Meanwhile, time-bounded voice and video traffic are joining the network and require QoS enhancements to 802.11's basic packet prioritization features. Enterprises also need to tune mixed wireless networks containing 802.11n and legacy 802.11g/b/a equipment to deliver fair network access to all client devices.

Simple, Zero-Touch Deployment Model (for routers and Wi-Fi networks No need for wireless or networking expertise
  • Just plug in the router or access point
  • The device will “phone home” and get its configuration from a single, centralized HiveManager
  • Changes are automatically pushed to the device
Centralized management across multiple sites from a single console or online service Same HiveManager for routers and access points
  • Unified wired/wireless policies enable the same experience for both wired and wireless access
  • Offers easy-to-use management for streamlining operations and reducing opex (operating expenses)
Fast, Secure Roaming and Identity-based Security, enforced in every access point and router as a user connects Provides enhanced security above and beyond 802.11's inherent authentication and over-the-air encryption including integrated firewall, WIPS, VPN, RADIUS, and Active Directory support
  • Users can easily and securely roam between access points and the router with no loss in connectivity.
Mesh Technology for AP-to-AP Direct Communications Ensures highest levels of network availability and resiliency, as network "self heals" around any failure points
  • Eliminates need to cable APs to switches in difficult-to-wire locations
Simple Pricing Model and No Feature Licensing Grows with your needs (Linear cost curve as you grow)
  • Eliminates budget "surprises" as you need additional features for new applications (i.e. QoS, VPN, mesh)
Secure Guest Access with Integrated Captive Web Portal Provides easy-to-deploy guest access to  access points or routers
  • Offers multiple methods to ensure acceptable use or authentication
  • Provides protection against intrusions by temporary users
Subscription Model for Branch Networks Provides maximum flexibility for deploying branch networks
  • Eliminates pre-staging and remote IT expertise requirements
  • Built in network-based mobile device management
Dynamic Airtime Scheduling Optimizes performance for each wireless traffic type, including latency-sensitive voice and video, as well as fair network access for all 802.11 client types (11a/b/g/n)
  • Prevents slow clients from impacting the performance of fast clients
